Digital Operator: How To Make Technology Work for Operators

Plant operations have become an interconnected web of technology that hosts a trove of data. Hardware and software have been installed with the promise of making operations run smoothly and efficiently. But so many times the data capable of providing quick information to operators and managers alike is not being used in a way to make this happen. How many pieces of data are still being manually calculated after the fact? How many opportunities to adjust production are lost as a result of outdated data information? The tools are in place, but due to a variety of reasons, such as resources and knowledge, they fail to be utilized in the best possible way.

When the data is identified and presented in a meaningful and timely way it can change the way operators, supervisors and management go about their day. Being able to make a decision based on data, regardless of an operator’s time on the job, can be the difference between safe production or preventable mishaps. With a supervisor being able to see in real time how the floor is running, the ability to address concerns becomes that much easier. When data becomes digitized, the possibilities for dissemination can be used to meet the needs of the operation.

As a solutions consultant, the biggest value EIS can add for a customer is to maximize their previous digital investments (systems, knowledge, resources) in support of their digital goals. If gaps are identified between tools they have and tools they need, then goal requirements can help guide tool selection (based on support, cost, complexity, etc.).

Learn how EIS can help leverage your technology to protect your most important assets- your operators.
