Spencerport Student Receives Administrator Scholarship Award

ALBANY, NY (04/30/2009; 1436)(readMedia)-- The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS), Region 11 was pleased to award Alexandra Nenni of Spencerport High School as the Region's annual student scholarship award winner. The award was presented during the region's annual Awards Ceremony and Reception on April 28 at the Doubletree Hotel in Rochester.

Nenni plans on attending college to become a physician's assistant and thanked her principal, Ty Zienkiewich for his encouragement and support.The event also acknowledged the following local region 11 award winners:

OGS to Award over $7.9 Million in New Construction Contracts

ALBANY, NY (04/30/2009; 1401)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 13 contracts representing more than $7.9 MILLION in new construction, providing work in five counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All but one of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

ALBANY COUNTY

Hazardous materials, electrical, heating and ventilation, plumbing and elevator contracts were bid to upgrade passenger elevators at the The EGG in Albany, NY.

Hazardous materials: Suburban Restoration Co., Inc. of Hawthorne, NJ was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $38,870.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of nine firms. The low bid was $554,600.

Heating and Ventilation: S & O Construction Services, Inc. of Pleasant Valley, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $81,560.

Plumbing: S & O Construction Services, Inc. of Pleasant Valley, NY was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $139,200.

Elevator: KONE Inc. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $1,364,600.

CAYUGA COUNTY

A construction contract to replace various doors, Building Nos. 4 and 12 at the Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, Bellows Construction Specialties, LLC of Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $85,600.

ESSEX COUNTY

Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to provide field investigation unit building and storage building at the Troop B Headquarters in Ray Brook, NY.

Construction: Murnane Building Contrs., Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $3,390,200.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $908,700.

Heating and Ventilation: K & L Plumbing & Heating, Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $722,466.

Plumbing: K & L Plumbing & Heating, Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $257,509.

TOMPKINS COUNTY

A construction contract to replace ceilings building no. 10 at the MacCormick Secure Center in Brooktondale, NY was bid by 12 firms. Of those 12, D. Hillman & Sons LLC of Bouckville, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $82,300.

ULSTER COUNTY

Electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to replace boilers Building Nnos. 36, 40, 41and 42 at the Highland Residential Center in Highland, NY.

Electrical: Phoenix Electricians Co., Inc. of Cairo, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 11 firms. The low bid was $19,447.

Heating and Ventilation: Sun-Dance Energy Contractors, Inc. dba Markley Mechanical of Peekskill, NY was the apparent low bidder out of nine firms. The low bid was $299,355.
